Ingredients

  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 300 ml warm water
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 100 g walnuts, chopped
  • 100 ml honey
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Method

  1. 1

In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add the water and olive oil, kneading until a smooth, elastic dough forms.

  2. 2

Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.

  3. 3

Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and roll each one out into a thin circle, about 20cm in diameter.

  4. 4

Heat a heavy-based pan or a traditional saj griddle over medium-high heat.

  5. 5

Place a dough round in the hot pan and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown blisters appear.

  6. 6

While still warm, place the pita on a serving plate. Drizzle generously with honey, sprinkle with chopped walnuts, and dust with cinnamon. Serve immediately.
