Ingredients

  • 2 cups hazelnuts
  • 1.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 0.5 cups cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp neutral oil
  • 0.25 tsp salt

Method

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spread the hazelnuts in a single layer on a baking sheet. Roast for 10-12 minutes until the skins are dark and the nuts are fragrant.

  2. 2

Wrap the warm hazelnuts in a clean kitchen towel and rub vigorously to remove as much of the papery skin as possible.

  3. 3

Place the peeled nuts in a high-speed food processor or blender. Process for several minutes, stopping occasionally to scrape down the sides, until the nuts turn into a smooth, liquid nut butter.

  4. 4

Add the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, oil, and salt. Process again until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy.

  5. 5

If the consistency is too thick, add an additional tablespoon of oil until the desired texture is reached. Transfer to a clean glass jar and store at room temperature.
